Emergency Bag for Hospitalisation (Labour)

Hi dearies, it's been a while since i last posted up something new on my blog. Anyway i would like to tribute this blog to those who are expecting, especially first time mommies. You see when i got pregnant the first time i did a lot of research. And one of the most important research was the emergency bag to bring to the hospital when you admit for labour. Anyway, i didn't expect the list to be incomplete as there were other things that were needed. So In Shaa Allah i'll be sharing the list of things that need to be in your emergency bags, baby's bag, things to bring in the labour room and etc.

First thing, emergency bag. I just turn 36 weeks last Friday and it's basically full term, now i'm just counting the days when my water brakes or when i start spotting. But i'm praying that my water brakes b'coz from first experience and also from those who have shared their experienced, if your water brakes it's not as painful as when you have spottings.

This is the list of items in the emergency bag:-

1. Pink Book (if you happen to go for monthly checkups in gov clinic you would know what i mean - VERY IMPORTANT!!!!)

2. Bath Towel.

3. Face Towel.

4. Toiletries (that includes toothbrush, toothpaste, cleanser, toner, moisturiser, facial cotton, ear digger - incase the ear starts to itch, nail clipper & pincer, bodywash, feminine wash).

5. Clothes when discharged.

6. Maternity Pad

7. Disposable panties (B'coz you won't have the time to wash and dry your panties)

8. Anti-bacterial wet wipes (if needed).

9. Wave mat (b'coz gov hospitals you stay in a big ward and if it's not air conditioned you might have mosquito.)

10. Handphone charger - also very important.

11. Socks.

12. Slippers/ Sandals or shoes.

13. Makeup (Just to look nice when you and baby discharge). 

 2nd Bag 

1. Hot Flask

2. Mug

3. Milo/Vico (Either your own mixture or 3in1)

4. Biscuits / Buns.

5. Bottle of Plain water.

(B'coz gov hospitals serve food early, you might be hungry later at night. And having all this items help curb the midnight hunger.)

Babies Bag.

1. Babies clothes (bring a few pair, i normally just bring the top b'coz the baby will still have their umbilical cord intact so no point making them wear the bottom. Plus they're wrap with the baby wrap, that would keep them warm enough)

2. Booties & Mittens.

3. Hat or something to cover the babies head to keep them warm.

4. Baby Wrap/ Welcome blanket.

5. Pampers.

6. Wet Wipes.

7. Lotion to moisturize their skin.

8. Newborn Pillow.

9. Nappy Rash Cream (I'm using the one from mothercare it comes in a small tub).
10. Towel. 

Small Bag to Labour Room.

- Ok before i list it down, i do have to say that this small bag is important too b'coz when i delivered Sofiah, i was only told to bring baby's pampers and clothes. After the missy's finish cleaning me up, than only i knew i was suppose to bring along the maternity pad. So do keep this in your priority too.

1. Baby's pampers.

2. Baby's clothes.

3. 1pc of Maternity Pad.

4. 1pc of Disposable panties (if not they'll make their own loop in order for the maternity pad to stay intact.) 

So i guess that's about it, if any of you have any other suggestions please do let me know and i'll edit the list. Hope it helps, especially for first time mothers. Anyway this is my list for those admitting to government hospital, it might be useful for those admitting in private clinic/hospital too. Whatever it is, it's just a guide to prepare for the big day.

My Pregnancy and Tanamera

Assalamualaikum ladies,

Well felt like blogging, so might as well blog something that i've bought recently from Tanamera Sri Ati (will provide the link to her FB page below the post later). Tanamera happens to be one of the well known brands for pregnant ladies. They have this set, whereby you could use it both pre and post pregnancy.

When i first had Sofiah i didn't really come across this brand, but through out the years with much reading and researching i somehow find that their products are herbal based and it helps especially during the confinement period. For those who have gone through pregnancy, I'm sure we can relate when i say that your body tends to get tired due to lack of sleep and other factors. If you've gone through a natural delivery, you might have been through an episiotomy (whereby they will do an incision at the entrance of the vagina to enable for the baby to be delivered and you can google to find out more). So for that you have an extra wound to care and heal, same goes for those who have gone through caesarean there is an extra care for this kinds of wounds.

So imagine being lethargic and in pain, this are all natural things that women have to go through upon the birth of their bundle of joy. Do note that I'm not trying to scare those who are planning to have a baby. It's a wonderful experience being able to feel your little one moving inside of you and after going through all the nausea, headaches and itchiness and etc at the end of the day all of those things will just be flying out the window, b'coz you get to see your little girl or your little man in your arms.

Now that's what's important, so i'd better stop my blabbering and start talking about the items i've purchase. As you can see below, I've purchased 2 items froms Tanamera Sri Ati (whose based in Terengganu) by the way. I happen to notice that she had some sale going on so i decided to purchase the Virgin Coconut Oil (100ml - VCO) and the Brown soap. I normally used Bio-oil during my pregnancy to curb the itchiness of my stretch marks, but somehow 4 years down the road, Bio-oil is really expensive when it's RM32.90 for a 60ml bottle.

So for this VCO, since it was on sale i manage to purchase it for RM 30.60 instead of the normal price of RM 34. And the brown soap for RM 13.50 instead of RM 15. The VCO is basically a multipurpose oil, you can use it to apply on your stretch marks, you can consume it and you can even use it to massage your perineum (based on the testimonials i've read, consuming VCO and using it for massaging the perineum actually helps during delivery. There have been those who have delivered without having an episiotomy, which is good (than you don't need to feel discomfort down there during your confinement).

 The next item is the brown soap (as per the picture below), the soap bar is pretty big actually, and it's made out of herbs. It helps to lessen the appearance of stretch marks and skin allegiance on the neck and the body. It also functions as a scrub, at the bottom the texture of the soap bar is more rough than the top.

So far i'm happy with both the items i purchase. I did notice that i smell coconuty when ever i apply the VCO and my skin does feel good and clean when ever i used the herbal soap. I'm currently having this skin irritation all over my body, I'm not sure whether it's due to heat (pregnant women tend to be heaty during pregnancy). I literally bath like 3 times a day, b'coz i sweat a lot and if i don't bath immediately my body starts to itch. And due to that i'm having red spots all over my body..eerrkkk...

Butterfly Project Tea Party & ServerFreak M'sia

Assalamualaikum Ladies,

Alhamdulillah about a month back i heard that The Butterfly Project was going to organize a Tea Party cum workshop for those who have lack of knowledge in setting up our own personalize website/ blog. So guess what i was lucky enough to be picked, and it was my very first event with the Butterfly Project.

The venue was at Show.case @ Plaza Kelana Jaya, and it was over looking a beautiful lake, which was just so serene. It was a chilly day since it was drizzling in the morning, manage to carpool with Kay who happens to be the MC for the day.

Since we were there about half and hour early, i got to meet Illy and Tammy personally and manage to get a lot of pix before the crowd arrived.

Delicious food and tea/ coffee by Teaffani High Tea, this was my first time tasting their food. I heard that they've been catering for most of the events in KL. Guess what it was yummy, love their carrot cake, so yummy, even ta pau some b'coz there was leftovers.

A small corner which was beautifully decorated and ensemble by Ask Joey - The Sweetest Party. She's been the party planner for most of Butterfly Project's event, and doesn't it look sweet and dainty? with all the soft pink hues.

Some of the items sold during the Tea Party, which are notebook handmade by Mamasan@Tammy herself, and it only cost RM 20 each. Manage to get hold of one of it.

At the same time we also had a photo booth, from 123Cheese.my. This is their 2nd time collaborating with Butterfly Project, their first was the Luau Party with Kinohimitsu. Manage to snap up some pictures with other beautiful butterflies, and guess what it's in the form of a bookmark, which i find it lovely and memorable.

So let me get back to the actual reason what this Tea Party is for, it's basically to celebrate the launching of Butterfly Project website, which was hosted by a company called ServerFreak. So both party decided to colaborate in order to further educate and share their services with other independent bloggers, for e.g me.

Haul from Big Bad Wolf

Assalamualaikum ladies,

How are you all doing? In Shaa Allah everyone's doing good. I've been pretty busy for the past 3 days being out and about rather than being at home. So i was really looking forward to go for the book fair in MIECC which was the Big Bad Wolf. If i'm not wrong this is their 2nd time around this year (2013), and it was my first time going there, with my sis, mom and Sofiah. 

Decided to drive and use WAZE as my guide, but sadly we got lost going there and coming back home. Thank Allah i pump the car enough to go around and get lost. 

So anyway's we were there pretty late around 3pm out of being lost and jam and all that. Parking alhamdulillah was easy, as there was a secluded parking space near the new building. It looked like an abandoned park, the parking fee was RM5 per entry and guess what it's just a short distance from the venue. We just had to cross over the river. So took the lift, when up and guess what you can't stop at the floor where the book fair is on, you have to go another floor up where there's some F&B vendors, and take an escalator down. Poor Sofiah she was already sleeping, when i carried her she immediately woke up and was wide awake. 

So we took the escalator down, than Amanda (my sis) had to go find my mum, b'coz my aunty drop her earlier. And we started browsing for books. My budget was set at RM100 and nothing more, and my aim was just to get books for Sofiah and our little one on the way.

Started looking for storybooks and activity books for Sofiah, my eyes was literally scanning through each book. Everything looks so nice with beautiful illustration and crazy price tag. Children books were literally from RM1 - RM 15. After picking and choosing and calculating this were the books that were haul during the book fair.

Workbooks that were meant for those age 4-6Y, b'coz they don't have any which was for Sofiah's age. And they only cost RM 5 each.

Story Time by Miles Kelly Little Press

Retail: RM 20 per set

*There was suppose to be 10 different story books in it, but since i didn't check i ended up having 9 of it, and 2 of it were repeats.

Books for the lil one - 123, ABC, Colours & Shapes.

Retail: RM 3 per book.

*Worth getting since the price is such a steal, and i just love the beautiful illustration and colors on it.

*Oh and before i forget, do you ladies know the kind of storybook that has like sound buttons on the side. They only cost RM10 each, i saw one which was Disney Brave. There were also other few titles, but i can't remember what. So it definitely is a steal and they also have interesting encyclopedia for kids, which i so wish Sofiah was old enough to read.

So can you just imagine how tempting it was seeing all this beautiful books, with beautiful illustration, colors, easy to read content and not forgetting the crazy price again. And i had to control myself to spent within the budget... uuuurrrghhhhh u don't know how geram it was, i wish i could bring back more. But than thinking again we don't have much space in the house to have all the books.

In total i only spent about RM 82, b'coz mom decided to pay for the Toy Story 3 & the 7 collection books and give it as a xmas gift to Sofiah. 

Summary:-

I would definitely go again, bring extra cash (or if possible save as much as you can, b'coz you will definitely splurge on those crazy deals. Bring a trolly, roller bags or anything that would make it easy for you to lunge boxes of books.

If possible let the driver be someone whose familiar with the road, there's no denying how exhausting it was being pregnant and driving around, lost and all. And yes if i had more money i would go again before the book fair ends. But sadly i don't, another thing was mom did mentioned that there was this NGO called Budimas who happens to open a counter at the book fair. You can buy and donate the books to them, as their currently working on collecting books to put in their makeshift libraries for the orang asli's.
